Emergence from darkness

Two emergences here - mine and the Conservatives'.

Mine:

Well, I feel like a prisoner of my computer, having being in the darkness of the bowels of my computer, light-free for days, emerging blinking into the sunlight, having found some solutions.

The Conservatives':

A brilliant conference so far, speeches by the major players delivering more than expected.  So far, Ken Clarke (yes, even he, the arch Europhile), George Osborne (he, hitherto considered too inexperienced and light-weight) and Hague (he, unwilling to commit to a referendum).

Each put forward convincing arguments - refreshing, given those of the LibDems and Labour.

Actually, pretty much all of the speeches, not all being thumping good entertainment, delivered a lot of meat which will enable conservative-minded people and the markets to take the Conservatives more seriously. Osborne's determination to pay down debt, the servicing of which costs us a fortune and puts Britain's credit rating at risk (and potentially, increases the likelihood of of its cost rising) was particularly welcome. And convincing.

That's precisely what I wanted to hear.

I remain sceptical, but immeasurably more reassured that life will improve, should the Tories win the GE, so long as we all accept that austerity is necessary.

Even the bile-prone Paxo could find little to fault, despite his determination to do so.

An interesting space to watch.

Labour must be bricking it!

Lovely!
