Europhile Heseltine to join Tory government as unelected and unaccountable peer?
The Mail reports that Cameron is thinking of bringing Heseltine into a Conservative government as a temporary peer and minister without porfolio.
Great! Just what we need!
Another Eurofanatic to match Clarke, and an unelected one, to boot!
Comissioning Heseltine in any role in a Conservative government would destroy what little belief conservative-minded voters have in Cameron's so-called Euro-sceptic credentials.
Secondly, if we are to restore democracy, the last thing we want is more appointees, however temporary. Were Hezza to become a temporary peer and minister without portfolio, he would still be unelected and unaccountable to the electorate - and we couldn't get rid of him.
Such an appointment doesn't quite gel with the notions of primaries or recall, does it? And we don't want him in a 'safe seat', either. Safe seats and government appointees have been malignant cancers in our democracy.
The last thing we want is an unelected Eurofanatic with influence on EU policy, who can't be recalled!
Scepticism is rising, Mr Cameron - not just Euroscepticism, but Tory-scepticism.
For this kind of idiocy, tens of thousands of votes to be earned by UKIP, perhaps?

Just another reason not to vote Tory.
They do seem to be going out of their way to shed voters to UKIP.
It's as if they have a death with, Quiet Man.
Or perhaps they're secretly so confident that the election is in the bag and that the electorate will be so eager to get rid of Labour that it will vote for anything - even damaged goods!
Fausty, just another stroke in the long grooming out of freedoms customs and habits.
One day they hope we'll never want to vote for anyone ever again.
All sides are at it, they are ALL our enemies.
Little by little, Incoming! They think we won't notice.
Worryingly, today there is an article in the Mail about how wonderful it was living in Communist Hungary. In the Mail, of all places!
I hope they get a walloping from their readers!
I have posted on quite a few forums, that the ruling elite of all three main parties are the same. They bicker about how they are better than each other and have the right ideas to manage the country, yet when you look closely they are all variations of the same recipe, that has lead us to where we are today.
None of the three main parties are either honest or transparent in their intentions and they offer no real choice, save "the other lot are useless, give us a go" mantra.
While indeed, the Brown / Bliar third way, fascist experience, has been a political, social and freedom raping disaster, there is little evidence that CMD or Cleggover would be any different.
The problem is that consensus politics, has lead to the end of real politics and the end to real choice.
You can vote for who you like among the big three, but it will change nothing, they are all going to the same ultimate destination and that destination does not include either choice, freedom or democracy.
There is growing awareness about the socialisation (speaking politely) of Britain.
Cameron's mask is slipping and he thinks we won't notice.
I hope people will spread awareness off UKIP, LPUK, EngDems (recall the wondrous Doncaster Mayor?), independents and even [spit] the Greens, for lefties who can't quite stomach the rest.
Lib/Lab/Con will just take us further into socialism.
wtf is a 'temporary peer' ?
i guess a temporary peer has a 'sunset' date, by which time he/she ceases to be a peer. (But doubtless still gets an enviable pension).
