Electioneering: curb on terror legislation
Alan Johnson will curb the ability of councils to use the RIPA 'anti-terror' legislation to investigate trivial offenses - such as full bins. For some reason, he feels the need to introduce a new law to accomplish this.
Why does he not simply modify the existing law? Perhaps he doesn't want to re-open debate on the ghastly RIPA legislation? Perhaps it will be easier to repeal an entire law should they return to power at the election?

This from a Government that has just extended the Proceeds from major crime Act ( whatever ) to allow those same councils to break in and steal your stuff whenever they decide you owe them a few quid for equally trivial matters ?
How anyone could trust what they say, Banned, I fail to imagine.
This promise to curb powers will have a sting in the tail and I wouldn't be surprised if it gives with one hand and takes away with the other.
