Big Brother: Conspiracy Theory, Episode 4, Jesse Ventura
As we all know, Big Brother is watching. We are under constant surveillance - but far more than we might imagine.
Big Brother is big business. Fascism.
Ex-Governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura, investigates government surveillance, uncovering a programme that turns local businessmen and office workers into spies, snooping on their neighbours and ratting on their friends in exchange for information and special privileges - including a license to kill.
The format of the show is obviously sensationalist, but it shows ways in which we can be tracked that we might well be unaware of. It is certainly a useful vehicle for warning trusting souls that belief in "nothing to fear, nothing to hide" is dangerously naive.

People should also be worried about slander, smearing and things taken out of context. I wonder if a lot of incorect or irrelevant "info" does not get minimised and why. Have they done any audits on the toys I assume are given out - like spy-ware, let alone checked if the people they train or the tools given out are abused including for personal abuse of others? If they train people to do certain stuff, do they have enough experienced overseers, and do some naively assume that power or opportunity won't corrupt some people - or that some will not abuse their new knowledge to harm accidentally or worse maliciously? Is crime by insiders and outsiders going up as communities, businesses and governments get murkier? Which spy-like state in history has ever been benign or lasted? Is technology a god - I thought it was a tool, not a master? Also, when murky things happen in companies or government or even charities or society, how do people tell the crooks from the so-called "good" people doing crooked things, esepcially when crime and corruption predictably grows where states become more like spy states? Do goverments want people to become unethical in their daily lives? When will those who approve of certain things realise that some things are wrong, regardless of who does them, and that it does matter when people are harmed by wrong-doing or people's lives are ruined because wrong data is not minimised? And computer systems seem more and more to block individuals from correcting or explaining discrepancies (some are caused by badly designed systems themselves). How convenient for wrongdoers - inside or out of organisations - that mountains of data and discrepancies are being created - how much is avoidable? I would have thought that unnecessary mountains of data and discrepancies would have made it harder to stop real criminals or terrorists. Who will watch the watchers? Today avoidable wrong may happen to some whom some people think are not worthy of being treated with a minimum standard of fairness - whether innocent or guilty. Tomorrow those who approve of totalitarianism or gross injustice may suffer themselves from the systems they are building - it may sadly be such unfeeling , unjust, ruthless, uncaring or naive people's loved ones or themselves who get bitten by the methods they approve of and promote. I would not rejoice at them suffering unjustly or having their lives wrecked unfairly, just as I wrould not rejoice at anyone else suffering in that way. Some things are plainly wrong or unwise, regardless of whom they are done to. I can understand the temptation of people in fear or anger to advocate the impossible ie 100% security or the totalitarian, but there seem to be people who are increasing their own power in reaction to various threats and advocating destroying society in a premeditated way, just sadly what the terrorists want to achieve.
Here is another reason I don't believe in trying to turn citizens into spies, or having civilian volunteers being trained in computer warfare etc.(google to find articles in the news over the past several years - it is truly shocking - and how can those volunteers be certain if those they are practicing on are participants in their practice sessions or innocents, and what happens when they abuse their learning in other areas? People can do bad things when they don't see the consequences of their actions, when real people become dots on a computer screen as if we people are virtual characters in a game, especially if the players are teenage or immature and have not seen or experienced abuse of power;) also, when murkey stuff happens in businesses or outside, who will refuse to do wrong if they fear that the wrong is being mandated by government or that there will be payback or if things can't go to court lest other things are exposed - only the brave who choose to do the right thing will refuse wrong or choose right under such pressures & corruption and wrong-doing will thrive; how empowered do those with toys or tools or surveillance capabilities feel or those with the right to spy in situations in society where that is not considered normal or healthy in a democracy? Do they feel like James or Jane Bond? Does it get to their heads? Do they concentrate on their real jobs? Do they and others stop thinking critiaclly and become overly reliant on technology because of the lie that technology will stop all crime or that it is perfect? I thought technology was only as good as the programmers and designers, there aren't any all-knowing or perfect people out there, are there?. Also some things can be used for good or harm depending on the ethics, maturity, experience and oversight of those with the opportunity to use or abuse them. And some things are unwise or wrong. It must be terrible for those who try to be ethical these days, including those who try to be ethical in law enforcement or security areas:

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND!!!
Who will watch the watchers?
Indeed, Anon. And those who currently benefit from the system appear to believe that history doesn't repeat itself. Under a totalitarian system, everyone is a potential victim of the state.
The only weapon we ordinary people have at our disposal is information. Waking up as many people as possible and harnessing the power of the masses - just as the totalitarians are doing to us, in fact.
As an ex software engineer, I can tell you that no complex technological system is without bugs; the more complexit is, the more prone it is to discrepancy/malfunction.
Sadly, government doesn't seem to attract people with dignity or morality. We need to be vigilant - always; tyranny is never far away.
Thanks for the link.
Happy New Year to you and WHT! And everyone else!
The reality's dire enough.
The reality's dire enough.
Fausty,
no doubt you'll check out the latest from Jesse Ventura, all about the Bilderbergers. Great telly.
You're right, James. But sheeple seem to respond to sensationalism - because it is writ large. That's why Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy Theory series has been a blockbuster - simply stated, but scary.
Thanks for the tip, Trooper.
Ah, shit. I guess I should stop being balls out with my activities on the innerwebz. Really, though, this shit isn't all that inconceivable at all. Government is bigger than it ever has been in history, and it's only going to get bigger.
It's getting damned near time to go off the grid.
Definitely worth getting off the grid, Snarky. This shite is real enough.
I'm into Forex trading. I wonder if there is a way to predict or find patterns in the way exchange rates move. Anyone have any techniques or suggestions?

In my humble view, Anon, Forex trading is a game for mugs, unless you are Goldman Sachs, etc. It's rigged.
The Elliott Wave Theory or Technical Analysis is probably your best bet ("bet" being the operative word).
My money's on gold - as in coins.
I do believe that the format of the show is quite out of the box. I really liked this big brother episode of Conspiracy theory. But I don't really support the spying thing. Everybody in the world wants the private moments to be private.
It is the best of the lot, so far, JSA. I don't support spying at all.
Half the population seems to have forgotten what it is to be truly free, while the other half has had the notion indoctrinated right out of them, along with the ability to think independently.
It's up to us to help others to see what's really going on in our world - before it's too late.
