The Power of Nightmares - the politics of fear
Given Peter McKay's article "This War on Terror is a Joke", the BBC's excellent production takes this further, exploring the way politicians, keen for power and not content with being "managers", have been attracted to the power of nightmares - the politics of fear.
It seems clear to most people who have pored over the anomalies of the Detroit underpants bomber, that the statements parading as facts, put out by the 'authorities', don't add up and that something is amiss. Indeed, questions arise as to whether the Nigerian in question was a terrorist or part of a CIA false flag operation.
The usual suspects are the powers behind the scenes, such as Kissinger, who wanted the West and Russia to become interdependent, creating a new world order.
Rumsfeld was responsible for demonising the Russians, creating the fiction that the Russians had war capabilities far beyond what they actually had.
If we were fooled on such a grand scale, for decades, about the Russian 'threat', does this not make you wonder whether our current "war on terror" is of the same ilk? A fiction, a nightmare scenario devised by politicians to control society?
In the world of these power freaks, the end justifies the means. Their view of a 'safer' society is justified by killing millions of innocent people.
Jail would be too good for them.
The BBC's documentary comprises 3 6-part volumes (autoplay):
Update: A poignant accompaniment to this documentary is Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
Update 05/01/2010: Leg-Iron takes us on a journey through fear-embellished time, courtesy of the Righteous: Fear the Witch, for it is you. A masterpiece, as usual.

You are forgetting that the Muslim extremists THEMSELVES have declared openly their jihadic aims and desire to conquer and subdue the West under Islam. This message is being preached by extremists in British mosques. It is shouted from Muslim demonstrations from the same platform as threats to Israel and Jews.
No doubt the Islamists would like to present their failed terrorist attempts as 'false flag' events. Then Liberals can close their eyes and pretend nothing is happening, until it is too late.
There's a difference between a few Muslim nutters gobbing off and a real threat.
To be honest if the nutjob from Nigeria is the true face of Osama's terrorist threat then I'm more scared of Basil Brush or Basil Fawlty.
Smokey undercrackers aren't a particularly powerful weapon in my view.
The extremists have frequently been paid by the West to terrorise. Our wars on their territory have radicalised them. Much of the 'terror' threat is just fiction.
We are more at risk on our roads each day!
And for this wondrous war on terror, we pay heavily via our taxes and with the lives of young men.
Utterly despicable. Unspeakable.
Quite, Gregg.
Love the clip, UKWM!
Whats the difference between terrorism and state sponsored terrorism?
State sponsored terrorism is sometimes called "terrorism from above", although it might well be called "terrorism from within", or "the enemy within".
False flag ops might be classified that way. Quite apart from questions of immorality, the people pay their governments for their own suffering.
Perhaps Terrorism From Above is related to the old concept of Revolution From Above which generally resulted in real revolution from below.
Fausty, do you remember after the London bus&tube bombs some people launched a campaign " we are not afraid " which encouraged participants to produce logos along those lines? Maybe we should try something similar?

"We're Not Scared" aimed not at the Moslems but against our evil governments.
