But Lo! Merkel plans to neuter the German Constitution because the Constitutional Court which presides over it has the power to scupper EU plans for "ever closer union".
The Lisbon Treaty and the ESM Treaty are, in effect, "enabling acts" of a type Hitler and Stalin would have been proud. But this time, the jurisdiction is the entirety of the EU, not just Germany.
Cognisant of this, will the EU fanatics in the Eurozone still be happy to sign up to the ESM Treaty? Will their people let them?
Will we let them?
Update: Some argue that in order for Merkel to ratify the ESM Treaty, she'll have to hold a referendum. To them, I ask "who will, by the force of law, enforce a referendum, if not the Constitutional Court?".
If Merkel neuters that court, German sovereignty is toast.

Yes just as the Jews quietly went to the gas chambers believing their masters were decent people.
History repeating itself, Oldrightie. Why will people not see?
Events are happening too quickly now for the polititians to keep up, quite apart from the German Constitution prohibiting what Merkel is trying, the majority of the german govt. is against her on this one; there are a lot of other things going on in the background that Merkel is deliberately trying to muddy, ultimately to try to save her own skin as she knows that the shit will hit the fan nonetheless and France has a much tighter grip on their bollocks than most U.K. journos have any idea about.
