Cameron's nightmare: UKIP's "increasingly impressive leader, Nigel Farage"

After Cameron's Veto That Never Was and resultant poll flush, Cameron's political tarot cards nevertheless portend an EU "nightmare" - which is set to increase in intensity by some magnitude.

Amol Rajan gives three main reasons for the nightmare facing Cameron's Tories:
  1. The electorate won't countenance a snap election. Wanna bet?
  2. Failure of Cameron's "rebranding" of the Conservative Party.
  3. "Ukip's increasingly impressive leader, Nigel Farage".

The public might have more of an appetite for a snap election than Mr Rajan believes. I'd be interested to know why he believes as he does.

(2)
We can only deem something a failure if its goals have not been met. Cameron wanted to rebrand the Conservative Party, we are told. As what, exactly? As a "nicer" party? Or as a "progressive" party?

If the latter, then he has succeeded and won't much care what the media or the electorate thinks of that. "Progressive" is, after all, very much built into the EU's fabric and Our Dave serves the EU first.

Couldn't agree more!

Hi, Fausty, Happy New Year. ;-)

I saw a great quote somewhere recently, (I can't remember exactly where), and it was bang on the money.......

"Cameron had the opportunity to turn the Conservatives into a Right-wing party with heart, instead he turned it into a Left-wing party with cuts!"

How very true.

Hi Spidey - same to you!

True - except there are no real cuts - just a reduction in the increase in expenditure.

Nice to see you back again!
