Petition for referendum on forthcoming EU treaty change

The dogged and meticulous Denis Cooper has just started an e-petition "calling for a referendum on the radical EU treaty change quietly agreed through European Council Decision 2011/199/EU of March 25th 2011."

His e-petition reads as follows:
"That notwithstanding any provision of the European Union Act 2011 the planned European Union (Approval of Treaty Amendment Decision) Bill should include provision for a UK referendum on the relevant EU treaty change, that agreed by EU leaders through European Council Decision 2011/199/EU of March 25th 2011."

He explains:
"The introductory phrase alludes to the fact that on October 13th 2010 Hague invoked his so-called "referendum lock" to deny us a referendum on the EU treaty change, which is appended to this statement he laid before Parliament:

Unlike the previous e-petition system, the names of signatories are not made public."
The EU can't survive in its current form if it can't extract from us its desired treaty change.

Let's help bring the Evil Empire down and sign the petition.

What do you have to lose, but a few minutes of your time?
